Shoplifters caught on camera

THESE people are being hunted by police in connection with a string of thefts at two supermarkets in Henley.

Police have released CCTV images of the suspects in the hope that Standard readers will identify them.

One image shows a man and a woman entering Sainsbury’s in Bell Street where they are believed to have stolen three bottles of whisky.

They were approached in King’s Road car park by Pc Scott Rogan but they jumped into a silver Hyundai, reversed out of their parking space and drove off, hitting the officer on the way.

Pc Rogan said the woman was at the wheel, adding: “I stood in front of them and held my hand up to stop the vehicle.

“The male turned to her and appeared to shout at her whereby she accelerated towards me. As she got nearer, the vehicle turned to the right but the front of the vehicle hit me at slow speed, pushing me towards the nearside of the vehicle.

“It then drove around me, managing to pass through a gap of stationary vehicles.”

The incident happened at about 2.45pm on December 21.

The man is described as very tall and wearing a dark-coloured jacket and jeans. The woman was wearing a white jumper and dark jeans with a brown shoulder-strap handbag. The car had the licence plate FJ03 ZXX.

Another image shows a man standing outside Sainsbury’s at about 2pm on December 14.

He stole a bottle of whisky, two shelf trays of Nurofen tablets and some batteries, worth a total of £100.

The man is described as 5ft 11in, of medium build, with skinny legs and short brown hair with a swept-over fringe. He was wearing sandy-coloured chinos and a grey cardigan with a V-neck front, a red polo shirt and a brown bag with strap.

At about the same time, three women were seen stealing meat and whisky from the same supermarket.

They entered the store individually. One took a bottle of Jack Daniels and several packets of meat which she hid in a shoulder bag before leaving without paying.

The second woman did exactly the same thing but her haul also included some Christmas cards. The third woman appears to have been the look-out.

One woman is described as being in her early twenties, about 5ft 9in, large, with blonde, shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a lilac long-sleeved top, black trousers, black Ugg-style boots and carrying a large black handbag on a shoulder strap.

The second was in her late twenties or early thirties, about 5ft 6in, of medium build, with dyed reddish-brown, shoulder-length hair.

She was wearing a black cardigan, a white and grey horizontal striped top, black trousers, black Ugg-style boots and carrying a small brown leather handbag on a shoulder strap. The third woman was in her early forties, about 5ft 7in, large with chin-length, dark-blonde hair.

She was wearing a black cardigan, black leggings, white shoes and carrying a black handbag on a shoulder strap.

Another image shows a woman in her mid-thirties who stole a sandwich from Sainsbury’s on October 22.

She concealed the sandwich in her navy gilet which had a fur-lined hood, before selecting a bottle of wine. She paid for the wine at the till but left without paying for the sandwich.

The suspect is described as 5ft 6in, slim, with dark red and brown long hair, and wearing a long-sleeved grey top.

In another set of images, a man and two women are seen stealing a trolley with two crates of beer, meat, toilet rolls, a multi-bag of crisps and a television monitor from Tesco in Reading Road on December 11. Staff were suspicious but the pair left the store with the full trolley before they could be challenged.

CCTV footage shows a woman in her mid-forties leaving the store with the trolley. She is described as having mousey brown hair and wearing a green parker-style coat, dark skinny jeans and dark boots.

The second woman was in her early twenties, about 5ft 4in, with black hair tied up in a ponytail. She was wearing a red hooded top, dark leggings and Ugg-style boots and carrying a white shoulder bag.

The man was in his early twenties, with short, brown hair and was wearing a grey hooded top, a dark coat and dark trousers.

If you can identify any of the people in these images or have any information about these incidents, call Henley police on 08458 505505 or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
