DRIVERS were caught up in traffic jams as floods in the Henley area continued to cause disruptions for a third day.
Spring Lane in Sonning was closed yesterday and was followed by Playhatch Road today.
It meant drivers queued for up to an hour in Wargrave Road as they were forced to take alternative routes. There were also traffic jams in Reading Road, Henley, and White Hill, Remenham.
A flood warning was issued in Henley yesterday and the Thames spilled over into Mill Meadows, Red Lion Lawn and Leander Club and the Henley Royal Regatta car park was almost completely under water.
Last night, another flood warning was issued in Goring and Streatley after river levels in Cleeve Lock continued to rise.
The Environment Agency said properties close to the Thames could be flooded.
Further showers are expected tomorrow.
The Angel on the Birdge closed its kitchen, which is on the same level as the riverside seating area, today after it was flooded.
Manager Mark Dunlop said: “This is the highest level it’s been for three years. We’re hoping the river will go down in the next 24 hours and we can open it again. The bar is open as normal though.”
