HENLEY MP John Howell has supported the Government’s plans to devolve power over Sunday trading rules to councils.

He is one of 39 MPs and more than 100 council leaders to have signed a letter to the Communities Secretary backing a report saying that new trading laws could provide economic benefits worth  £1.4billion a year to the UK economy.

Mr Howell said: “The time is right to give local communities a choice about whether shops should be allowed to extend their Sunday trading hours.”
