Surveys can save cash

Choosing the right survey is very important.

In 2013 a survey involving more than 1,000 buyers, conducted for RICS, revealed that more and more families are trying to save money by not having a full building survey when buying a new home.

One in five of those who did not commission a survey later uncovered faults. The average cost of a survey is just £400.

However, the average cost of this remedial work is £5,750, with 17 per cent of new owners ending up having to pay more than £12,000 to make their homes habitable.

Romans Surveyors, one of the services from the Romans Group, carry out more than 7,000 inspections every year.
