Snoopers use web to spy

LATEST research from Legal & General Mortgage Club reveals 21 per cent of homeowners in the South East admit to using sites such as Rightmove and Zoopla to check on the value of their friends’ and neighbours’ homes.

A further 22 per cent of property owners use the same sites to keep up to date with the value of their own houses at least once a year. The research was carried out as part of Legal & General’s quarterly Mortgage Mood survey, which looks at the attitude of homeowners across the UK on a range of mortgage related issues.

The findings also revealed people in the South East were the more likely to check on the value of others’ properties than the average Brit (18 per cent).

Of the homeowners who use property sites to check the value of friends’ and neighbours’ properties, more than half (57 per cent) do so at least every six months.
