A family home in the heart of countryside

by Jacky Hayler

IT WAS the location that drew owners James and Helen Haigh to Swains House, writes Jacky Hayler.

Having lived in Turville growing up and knowing the area before moving to Marlow, James knew that it was where he wanted to raise a family.

The couple moved there in 1998, seduced by the combination of location and the beautiful property. Built in 1939 and with a 17th century barn, the house offered the perfect combination of modern living with traditional features.

Mr Haigh said: “It was just idyllic and so peaceful — there was no noise and the views were stunning — we just knew it was where we wanted to bring up children.”

And now, three children later, the couple are moving to be nearer their offspring who have all chosen to attend boarding schools.
