Designer home encapsulates freedom of Sixties

WITH Henley Design Day fast approaching, we continue our look at architect-designed homes with a real edge.

Designed by renowned architects Bicknell and Hamilton in the early Sixties, Jordleys’ iconic curved contours were designed to blend seamlessly with its beautifully landscaped Thames-side gardens.

The focus of the design was on creating a light and airy living space with large windows taking advantage of the aspect and a skylight within the central hallway to bring in further natural light.

The generous sitting room takes precedence with a unique shape lending itself to multiple seating areas or flexible use. The dining room, which lies to one side, could also serve as a study.

There are three bedrooms, all to the southerly side of the house overlooking the gardens and the master bedroom has a door opening out.
