Car park floods

STAFF at a trading estate in Warren Row had to pump water out of the car park after it was flooded.

The site, which is used by wine wholesaler Milton Sandford and data management company MJF, was left under a foot of water on Friday following heavy rain overnight.

The on-site pump stopped working in the morning so John Winchester, who runs the wine wholesalers, had to bring in his own on a tractor.

The water was cleared by the afternoon and the company managed to make all its deliveries on time.

“It was an inconvenience,” said Mr Winchester. “Luckily, I had my own pump. You never know when you might need these kind of things and we are always prepared for a bit of manual work.”
