A TEAM from Reading Blue Coat School in Sonning has reached the district final of Rotary’s Youth Speaks competition.

James Steers, Luke Douglas and Jules Aplin won the zone final held at Christ Church United Reformed Church in Marlow, having previously won the Henley heat.

The pupils, who are competing in the intermediate section, beat three other schools with their talk about drinking tea.

The district final, featuring schools from Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Middlesex, will be held at the same venue on March 6.

The Henley College A team of Hammond Muir, Jashan Johal and Amy Thomson, who won the senior section at the Henley heat, were beaten by an all-girl team from Wycombe Abbey School whose subject was “Making sense of adolescence”.
