Henley’s novice eight lead the way at women’s head
HENLEY demonstrated their continued success in junior and women’s rowing over the weekend with a haul of medals at two major events.
On Saturday three Henley eights travelled to London to race in the women’s head of the river.
With a fast flowing ebb tide and quick north westerly wind, the three Henley crews were expecting fierce competition across their categories in the 300 strong event over the four-and-a-quarter mile course from Mortlake to Putney.
The women’s elite crew was racing against some of the best women’s eights in the country and battled through the field in a time of 19 minutes, 49 seconds, making them the 35th fastest boat of the day and ninth in their category of 22 crews.
