Junior rowers off to Belgium thanks to gifts of £600

UPPER Thames Rowing Club has welcomed donations which will help its juniors take part in the Ghent International Regatta.

Henley Town Council awarded a grant of £310 to transport the boats to the event in Belgium on May 10 and 11. The Henley Educational Trust awarded £140 for the transport of the rowers and Henley Rotary Club awarded £150 towards their expenses. Club captain Justin Sutherland received the cheques on behalf of the juniors from Henley Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak, Colin Homent, chairman of the trust, and Roger Sayer, president of the Rotary club. The guests were shown the training facilities at the club in Remenham Lane, Remenham.

The Upstairs and Downstairs tea shop in Duke Street, Henley, supplied tea and cake at the event.
