Henley and Upper Thames gain success

HENLEY ROWING CLUB seniors performed well at the Pairs Head on Saturday with a win and second place.

Over the three mile course from Chiswick to Hammersmith, the two Henley crews faced challenging weather conditions against several hundred other pairs and doubles crews.

The mixed double of Genevieve Bailhache-Graham and David Read, coached by Nigel Read, won the event overall and also took the elite pennant. Robert Wilson and Mike Jennings raced as a pair in the Masters D event, taking second place.

Upper Thames’ entry of five pairs was reduced to two on the day due to injuries and weather concerns.

In heavy rain the mixed double of Elise Cope and Jeremy Dobbin came third in their Masters D category.
