Oratory miss out

THE Oratory School crews missed out on medals in the finals of the National Schools Regatta held in Nottingham.

THE Oratory School crews missed out on medals in the finals of the National Schools Regatta held in Nottingham.

In gale force and heavy rain conditions, two J14 coxed quads made it on to the water but only the B crew managed to race before cancellation due to the adverse weather.

The J16s had formed a new eight only the week before and reached the final beating both Shiplake College and Yarm. The crew finished sixth in the final. The seniors first eight crew qualified for the semi-finals out of 15 crews that entered the category.

The Oratory impressed in the semi-final and with 100 metres to go they were in third position. However, they eventually finished fourth, missing out by one second to Pangbourne, two seconds to Monmouth and three to Shiplake.
