The Reading Amateur regatta held on Sunday incorporated a mini event raced over 500m.

The event was held during the main regatta timetable and which is aimed at younger junior competitors.

Henley had three entries with firstly the J13 girls losing to a very strong Hincksey Sculling School who went on to win the category.

The Henley J13 boys then raced in two heats, meeting the Great Marlow School crew in the final and won by some five lengths.

It was a stunning success for the Henley crew made up of Nick Spicer, Cameron Jones, Jack Broadbent, W H Properjohn and cox Ruby Brown.

The J12 mixed crew of Rhian Edwards, Hannah Webb, Jack Spiers, Benedict Madzar with cox Joe Edwards racing in the boys’ J12 section, beat the Licenced Victuallers’ School from Ascot in the straight final by some margin.

The two wins made Henley Rowing Club the overall winners of the Radley Cup for most successful club in the mini regatta.

The trophy was presented to the club by the Lady Mayor of Reading Marian Livingstone, who also presented the individual medals to the crew members.

The WJ14 coxed quad of Katy Beale, Georgia Edwards, Maisie Turner, Lily Stimpson and Rebecca Lister as cox missed out in another final behind a very strong crew from Headington School

The J14 squad had mixed fortunes at Marlow Town Regatta, reaching four finals but winning only one namely the WJ14 coxed quad of Iona McNab, Hannah Gutteridge, Katy Claridge, Anna Roe and Ella Morgan as cox.
