Henley RC win Victor Ludorum at Egham

HENLEY Rowing Club’s WJ15s had another successful weekend at Reading Town and Egham regattas last weekend.

HENLEY Rowing Club’s WJ15s had another successful weekend at Reading Town and Egham regattas last weekend.

On Saturday at Reading, Henley’s coxed quad defeated Wallingford RC in the final.

The crew Lauren Edwards, Emma Lister, Lily Stimpson, Georgia Edwards and cox Beccy Lister launched quickly off the start and then maintained their early lead to triumph over the 800 metre course.

On Sunday the WJ15s raced in singles and doubles at Egham where they won the Victor Ludorum.

Racing over a distance 650 metres, Lauren Edwards won the WJ15 1x event, racing through rounds against Christchurch Rowing Club, Guildford Rowing Club and Kingston Grammar School.

In the final Edwards defeated a sculler from Staines Rowing Club comfortably.

The double of Emma Lister and Ellie Thompson had a similar path through their half of the draw, winning by comfortable margins against Guildford, Staines and Maidenhead Rowing Clubs.

In the final the Henley double had to settle for second place as they were defeated by Surbiton High School in an event that attracted 16 entries.

The girls’ J12 double of Tilly Lock and Lottie Orr, racing together for the first time, beat an Abingdon Rowing Club double in the final. The girls lost out in the final of the coxed fours to a strong Hinksey crew after having beaten Abingdon by two feet.

The boys’ J13 quad of Will Properjohn, Cameron Jones, Nick Spicer, Jack Broadbent and cox Jack Spiers maintained their unbeaten run to the season by beating Walton Rowing Club by just over two lengths.

Nick Spicer and Jack Broadbent went on to win against Maidenhead Rowing Club.
