Rowing world cup Garbett takes honours

TOBY GARBETT has added a second GB vest to his name as national triathlon age group champion.

TOBY GARBETT has added a second GB vest to his name as national triathlon age group champion.

The Leander Club Olympian and double world champion retained the title for a second year at the championships in Liverpool last weekend in a personal best time.

He is now looking forward to the World Triathlon championships which are taking place in Hyde Park in September.

Speaking after his win, Garbett said: “I surprised myself by winning the title again in a personal best time as my preparation for Liverpool had not been very good.

“Less than two months ago I was in hospital with an infected elbow which saw me in a plaster cast for over a week and unable to use my arm at all.

“On top of that I did not feel I had done the amount of necessary training but relied on mental toughness to get me through.”
