Vikings triumph at Ross

SHIPLAKE VIKINGS triumphed at the Ross Masters and Juniors Regatta.

SHIPLAKE VIKINGS triumphed at the Ross Masters and Juniors Regatta.

Alina Budden and Millie Cook continued their winning streak in the WJ14 double sculls event overcoming Stratford Ross and Trent before beating Evesham by three feet in the final.

A slightly different line-up for the WJ13 quad made no difference to the result as the crew won their fourth regatta of the season. Emily Waldron, usually at bow, coxed Jade Miller, Suzy Penrose, Yasmin Prior and newcomer Olivia James in their win in the final against hosts Ross.

Twins Tom and Harry Berkley were joined by Phil Green and Harry Stirling in a J16 coxless quad which beat two Liverpool Victoria crews on their way to their win. Tom and Harry then contested the final of the J16 single sculls, which Harry won after having defeated James Mackins of Evesham who was the J16 single sculls silver medallist at the National Championships this year.

Other Vikings to do well were Jade and Suzy who won through to the final of the WJ13 double sculls final as did the Berkley twins in the J16 equivalent event.

lShiplake College student Seb Newman, representing Wallingford, won the J14 single sculls events at both Gloucester and Ross regattas.
