Hope triumphs at Masters World Championships

UPPER THAMES Rowing Club have appointed Diarmuid Fehily as their new junior coach.

UPPER THAMES Rowing Club have appointed Diarmuid Fehily as their new junior coach.

Diarmuid, from Oxford, started at the club last week. The club has around 20 junior members at the moment, and plans are in place to increase this to around 30 before Christmas.

Diarmuid said: “It’s great to be at Upper Thames at an exciting time in the club’s development. In the next month I will be running a Learn-To-Row course which is open to all local kids.”

The club will run an eight session taster course, after which those with natural aptitude will be invited to join as full junior members.

The club has had a number of juniors in the past who have gone on to represent GB, including Will Satch, who recently became a World Champion in the GB eight.

Club captain Justin Sutherland commented: “We were lucky to find someone with such enthusiasm for the spor. Maybe we can find the next Will Satch through this rowing course.”

Anyone wanting to register should contact Diarmuid on 07429 978622 for further details.
