SIXTH form Shiplake College students Max Hearnden, Henry Cawthorne and Harry Hogan took part in the recent Great Britain junior long distance rowing trials in Boston, Lincolnshire.

The event was attended by 136 boys and 62 girls. Each trialist competed in single sculls against the clock over a 5,000-metre course.

Hearnden finished in 29th place with a time of 20 minutes, 24 seconds placing him in the top 15 junior sweep oarsmen in the country while Cawthorne was just 4.8 seconds slower, a time good enough to finish 35th. Hogan, who has been rowing for just two years, was placed 78th overall.

Hearnden has now been invited to a world class potential training camp in Nantes, France which starts on Sunday.
