THREE members of the Shiplake College Boat Club travelled to Boston, Lincolnshire to compete at the Great Britain
THREE members of the Shiplake College Boat Club travelled to Boston, Lincolnshire to compete at the Great Britain junior trials where they were hoping to gain selection to represent Great Britain in the summer.
The trials consisted of a time trial over 5,000m on Saturday and Sunday, with successful candidates gaining a place in the next round of trials next month.
Sixth form student Will Carey competed in the J18 pairs, placing a respectable 37th place on Saturday and 31st on Sunday.
Year 11 pupils Seb Newman and Henry Blois-Brooke raced in the J16 event, which is used as an early identification trial to spot upcoming talent.
On Saturday they raced in their single sculls against 43 other competitors. Newman and Blois-Brooke finished 10th and 18th respectively, placing them amongst the best J16s in the UK.
The following day they partnered up to race in double sculls where they came first in the trial by 0.1 seconds.
