Stingers earn share of spoils against Maulers

NETTLEBED Stingers drew their second match of the season with Meadway Maulers at Theale on Monday

NETTLEBED Stingers drew their second match of the season with Meadway Maulers at Theale on Monday night in the social league after suffering defeat in their opening match the previous week.

The Meadway Maulers began well with a strong attacking start and with Nettlebed Stingers settling their nerves the opposition pulled ahead in the first quarter before Chanti Stubbs and Sarah Roberts in the defensive D with good marking skills began to pull back the Stingers’ goal difference.

Going into the second half Nettlebed Stingers found their rhythm and Scarlett King and Anna Morgan were passing the ball down the centre court into the goal area.

Both Totie Southwell and Claire Priddy were working around the goal area well, getting into great positions and pulling Nettlebed in front of the opposition.

A few minor errors meant the Stingers lost a few key passes but the team stood strong together.

The last quarter saw both teams fight hard as the match ended in a draw.
