Entries open for race

ENTRIES are open for this year’s Wargrave 10km.

ENTRIES are open for this year’s Wargrave 10km.

The 31st annual race will take place on Sunday, June 9 and will be part of the village’s biennial festival.

There will also be a mile-long children’s fun run.

Both races will be started by TV magician Paul Daniels, who lives in the village, at the recreation ground.

The 10km has been selected as the event for the Berkshire County Championships and there is a team category.

Wargrave brownies will run a hot drinks and cake stall and sports massages will be available to runners.

Last year, 500 people entered the race, helping to raise £5,000. The money was divided between Parkinson’s UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK, NHS First Response, the air ambulance, Wargrave guide hut fund, the village nurses’ and doctors’ fund and the Multiple System Atrophy Trust.

The event is organised by Wargrave Runners. To register, visit www.wargrave runners.org.uk and click on “events”.
