A SAILING club in Wargrave has been awarded £2,000 after being left under 3ft of water during the winter floods.
Henley Sailing Club in Willow Lane receive the money from Sport England’s flood relief fund to pay for repairs.
It will shore up quay heading on the river banks, repair a footbridge and damage to the car park and replace a winch used to deploy the safety boat.
During the floods, the club’s car park and grounds were submerged after the River Thames burst its banks but the clubhouse remained dry.
Volunteers had to work around the clock to get the club ready for the start of the new season, which was delayed by two weeks until March 29.
