Pupils enjoy maths lessons thanks to zombies game

MATHS lessons at Sonning Common Primary School took a scary turn with an educational board game.

Pupils have been playing City of Zombies, the award-winning game which aims to help children improve their numeracy skills.

Matt Tidbury, who designed and developed the game, visited the school and spent time playing with four classes of around 30 pupils each. He said: “I ended up staying all day. The kids really enjoyed the game and the demand to play it was so high that the school ordered six copies in addition to the six it had already bought.

“It really is a fabulous game and the kids end up doing lots of mental maths without even realising it.”

The game is suitable for one to six players aged five and above. It takes 30 to 45 minutes to play, although a shorter version is available. Mr Tidbury, from Didcot, said: “I originally designed City of Zombies to help my children with their maths when they were younger.
