County success for club’s junior players

PLAYERS from the Henley Junior Squash Club featured prominently in the Oxfordshire and Berkshire County Championships, gaining two county titles and five runners-up positions.

In the Oxfordshire County Championship held at Abingdon Squash Club, Jonathan Betts led the way by taking the U19 boys’ title.

Betts won his first match 3-0 while he was awarded a walkover in his second due to an injury to his opponent. In the final, Betts defeated Sam Austin. The first game was a close affair with Betts winning 11-8, 11-2, 11-4 to secure the championship.

In the U11 championship, Rory Richmond made his way through three preliminary rounds to reach the semi-finals, winning all of his matches 3-0.

Richmond defeated number three seed Felix Loeffen 3-0 in the semi-final to set up a final clash with England number 10 Luke Perkins.
