Ireland and Richmond secure club honours

HENLEY Junior Squash Club held its annual championship with separate competitions for U13s and 13

HENLEY Junior Squash Club held its annual championship with separate competitions for U13s and 13 and over players.

The competitions consisted of a series of round–robin matches with each match consisting of one game up to 21 points.

The U13 event saw some close matches including a 21–20 match between Jack Lynskey and Miles Edwards.

The crunch match was between Rory Richmond and Ewan McCracken, who are both nationally ranked, since they won all their other matches. In a close encounter Richmond had the edge as he won 21–17 to lift the title. McCracken finished runner–up. In the 13 and over event, Jake Ireland and Max Djemil had an undefeated record going into the final round of matches.

Ireland used the experience gained from playing in junior open tournaments and the senior third team to good effect and gained a 21–14 victory to secure the title. Third place was taken by Art Lawton.

• The club is hosting a series of free taster sessions on Wednesday, April 8 at Henley Leisure Centre with support from Invesco Perpetual’s community support programme. For more information concerning the Junior and Senior Squash Clubs and the taster sessions visit www.henleysquash.co.uk
