The smart way for children to learn

CAROLINE BOWERS from Maidensgrove has started a new business in teaching children following her own fulfilling experience of teaching her grandchildren.

Caroline, who has owned, ridden and worked with horses all her life, said: “Learn With Smartie is all about children having safe fun and learning how to ride and handle ponies. It is very rewarding now to be teaching children whose parents I taught when they were young.”

Currently, there are two ponies — Smartie, a Shetland pony who is perfect for children between the ages of two and five, and Poppy, a Welsh mountain pony who is ideal for the older/bigger riders. Both ponies love children and have kind and gentle temperaments.

There is a variety of options available, ranging from short taster sessions to more formal instruction.

As well as rides across the rolling grassland on the farm, you can also ride through the beautiful Chiltern beech-woods, along the lanes of the adjacent nature reserve or across Maidensgrove Common.
