Pupils get hands on experience running businesses

Sixth-form pupils at Shiplake College’s have arranged a variety of activities in order to complete the “running a business event” component of their BTEC business course.

With the help of head of business David Rose, the students had to create a concept event and organise the logistics and marketing. Events included a games night in the Great Hall featuring tin can alley, pot luck and a FIFA tournament. More than 70 students and teachers attended. Other activities included selling doughnuts and pies from a local bakery, a game of guess the number of balloons in a car and a wet-sponge-throwing spectacle in which pupils and teachers volunteered to be the target. The events raised almost £700 for Sue Ryder
