ENTRIES are now open for this year’s Wargrave and Shiplake Regatta.
The regatta will be held on August 8 and 9 and feature 400 races on a 400-yard stretch of the Thames by Wargrave using traditional wooden skiffs, canoes and punts.
Thousands of people are expected the watch the action from the bank where there will be food and drink stalls.
The regatta is open to everyone and participants do not have to be a member of a boat club or own their own boat. No prior experience is needed as equipment and training are provided.
The third annual Wargrave and Shiplake open-water swim will be held before the regatta at 6.30am on August 8. Competitors swim 1km from the George and Dragon pub in Wargrave to the railway bridge and back, either once or twice.
