A MEETING will be held next week to discuss the creation of three new open water swimming clubs.
Jeremy Laming, 43, wants to start clubs in Henley, Marlow and Reading to capitalise on the growing popularity of the sport.
The former rower, who runs the open water swimming events on the Thames in Henley, said the request had come from the Amateur Swimming Association.
The meeting will be held in the mayor’s parlour at Henley town hall on Thursday at 8pm. People of all ages and abilities are invited as well as those interested in getting involved in open water swimming or who could help run the clubs.
There is already a group called Henley Open Water Swimming Club but Mr Laming said this was an opportunity to formalise it.
