HENLEY’S annual dawn swim along the royal regatta course has sold out.
Organisers of the ninth Henley Classic, which takes place on Sunday, June 30 say demand was higher than ever after last year’s event was cancelled due to rain.
The 2.1km race will start at 4.30am to avoid clashing with crews who are warming up for the following week’s regatta. More than 700 people have signed up.
Co-founder Tom Kean said: “It never ceases to amaze us how many people are prepared to set their alarms for 2am. It seems that people love the excitement of something a bit different.”
On July 14, the smaller Henley Mile will take place on the same course, featuring races and a junior swim.
