Hundreds to swim between town bridges

THE Bridge to Bridge Swim in the River Thames from Henley to Marlow will take place next Sunday.

THE Bridge to Bridge Swim in the River Thames from Henley to Marlow will take place next Sunday.

Hundreds of swimmers will meet at Leander Club for the start of the 14km downstream challenge.

Parking will open at 5.30am at Swiss Farm field, between the caravan park and Henley Rugby Club, off Marlow Road. Registration is from 6am and the first wave of competitors will set off at 8am. Wetsuits are compulsory and the minimum age for competitors is 18.

Those in the green wave are part of the slower group and will go first. The blue wave, for regular open water swimmers, will begin at 8.30am. The final pink wave of fast swimmers will start at 9am.

The first section of the course is from Henley to Hambleden lock, which is about 4km, then it’s on to Hurley, passing through Medmenham. The third section of the course is from Hurley to Temple lock. The final section is between the lock and Marlow Bridge, a distance of about 2km.



More than 450 people took part in last year’s race with the winner finishing in a time of three hours and 17 minutes.
