THE Henley Synchronised Swimming Club secured their first ever gold medal at the National Age Groups Synchro Championships last weekend in Gloucester.
Millie Edwards and Stephanie Ridge, competing at their last nationals this year having both joined Henley at eight-years-old, secured gold in their duet category.
The duo performed their duet entitled “Demons”, choreographed by Ridge, in the 18/19 age group category.
Speaking after the win, Ridge said: “It was a great way to finish my synchro, which I have loved being a part of over the past 10 years. We are both grateful for the support from Karen (head coach) who made this opportunity possible for us.”
Elsewhere the U12 team, represented by Bethany Davidson, Charlotte Beadsmoore, Charlotte Jones, Charlotte Smith, Eleanor Whittle, Francesca Whittle, Georgia Hunter, Iris Bennett, Izzy Moorhouse and Poppy Butler, put on their “Magic” routine while the 13/14 team of Alexandra Turner, Amelia Jones, Angel Green, Isobel Buckner, Ruby Sarney and Sophie Print performed their “Vampire” routine. The U19 team swam their “Goddess” routine with Catherine Shearman, Charlotte Patrick, Chelsea Holliday, Courtney Moorhouse, Elizabeth Livesey, Lottie Young, Millie Edwards and Poppy Gray.
Charlotte Beadsmoore and Eleanor Whittle, both U12s, had successfully qualified during the year to be able to take part in the figure competition on the Saturday morning, alongside Amelia Jones who had also qualified in the 13/14 age group category.
All these routines will be performed at Henley Sports Centre on Sunday from 6pm. Spectators are welcome with tickets available on the door.
