Swimming galas make a splash

WE took two teams to separate galas in November.

Some of our beginner/junior swimmers took part in a competition in Amersham and managed to take 4th place, missing out on third by only three points.

It was the first time in a competitive environment for some of the swimmers, including Archie Thomas, Rory Collier, Joseph Rogers, Oisin Elliot and Charlotte Heard-Norrish.

They all did incredibly well and swam brilliantly.

Two weeks later a mix of our junior and senior squad members took part in the second half of Woking Swimming Club’s minor league.

There were some personal best times achieved on the night from Sam Pepall, Matthew Laing, Annabel Hems, Sofia Heard-Norrish and Madeleine Hepworth.

Everyone there was supportive and encouraging as they watched their fellow team-mates race.

There are two more competitions in 2016 and then bring on 2017!

Meanwhile, some of the team headed to Germany yesterday (Thursday) to compete against the swimming club in Leichlingen, Henley’s twin town.

The gala on Saturday will climax with 12 x 50m medley relay.

The Henley team will be swimming for the chance to retain our well-earned trophy. It’s a hard fought battle every year but I am confident that all the hard work at training will pay off on the day!
