Docree in fine form

A SOLITARY win by Gary Morgan was all Sonning Common and Peppard A had to show for their efforts as they lost 9-1 to Tidmarsh A in Division 1 of the Reading and District League.

Elsewhere the B team’s relegation was all but confirmed after they lost 10-0 to Kingfisher B as the Kingfisher side maintained their hopes of winning the Division 1 championship. Nigel Maltby did well to take a game off Hari Gehlot.

In Division 2 Malcolm Gregory’s three straight treble helped the E team beat a below-strength D team 8-2 in the inter club derby, Anthony Reeve and reserve Angus Jones both earning wins over Carol Chard for the D team. Danny Dockree starred with a maximum as the C team won 6-4 over Pangbourne WMC A. All three Sonning Common teams are safely placed in mid-table.

The H team saw their promotion hopes dented by a 6-4 loss to Our Lady of Peace F, the result giving the OLOP team promotion and the Division 5 title while Mike Casserely won twice and Gerry Bacon and Julian James managed one apiece as the H team slip from second to fifth place in the table. Meanwhile the G team lost 7-3 at Sonning Sports B, Mike Legg and Marko Madzar were amongst their scorers.
