HENLEY men’s A team secured a 5-3 home win on Saturday against Banbury West End.
Max Miles-Thomas partnered Eric Davies and comfortably beat Banbury’s second pair 6-3, 6-1. Bob Moore and Jeremy Wright had a gruelling first set. Unable to execute their set points, the pair lost 10-8 in the tie break and then the second set 6-0.
With the match poised at 2-2 each, Miles-Thomas and Davies gelled well together and continued to apply pressure on Banbury’s first pair.
Davies was at his reliable best at the net and the pair made light work of the match winning 6-1, 6-1. Moore and Wright lost their first set 4-6 so needed to win the second set to secure victory. Wright’s decision making was on point and Moore’s match experience forced through a 6-1 win and the match won for Henley.
