HENLEY Tennis Club’s men’s A team secured an impressive away win at David Lloyd D on Sunday.
Playing on an unfamiliar synthetic surface, Max Miles-Thomas and Eric Davies made light work of the second pair of David Lloyd beating them 6-0, 6-1. In the other match Chris Aspden and Jeremy Wright battled through a tough opening set but secured a crucial tie-breaker to take the first set before losing the second set 6-0.
With Henley looking to secure maximum points, Aspden’s consistency complemented with Wright’s slice forced through a 6-3, 7-6 win.
Miles-Thomas and Davies came flying out of the traps in their final match but a momentary dip in concentration found them 5-4 down in the first set. The pair battled back with Miles-Thomas involved in some draining cross court battles. Davies held serve and took the first set 7-5. David Lloyd hit back with a 6-3 win in the second but it was too little too late as Henley won the match
