A WIDOWED husband is preparing to pay a moving tribute to his late wife with two memorial performances at Henley’s Kenton Theatre.
As members of Woodley Light Operatic Society, Ray and Julia Higgs appeared together at the venue many times over the years.
But on New Year’s Eve 2013, Julia was diagnosed with a brain tumour after being admitted to the A&E department of Reading’s Royal Berkshire Hospital.
Just over 12 months later, in January 2015, she died peacefully at the couple’s home in Woodley, aged 57.
Along the way, the couple were supported by a number of charities, who Ray now hopes to raise funds for.
Remembering You... Julia’s Journeyis billed as an evening of music and memories to celebrate a beautiful life — although in true theatrical tradition there will also be a matinée performance at 2.30pm in addition to the evening performance at 6.30pm on Sunday, September 18.
The chosen charities are the Brain Tumour Charity, Brainstrust, Marie Curie, Sue Ryder and Macmillan.
Tickets are £15. To book, call (01491) 575698 or visit www.kentontheatre.co.uk
