CHILTERN Players are presenting a night of entertainment to celebrate the life of their former chairman and treasurer, Jeni Titchener, who died in April.
An Evening for Jeni takes place today (Friday) at 8pm at Peppard Memorial Hall, Gallowstree Road, Rotherfield Peppard. It will feature excerpts from plays, comedy turns and monologues from productions in which Jeni was involved either from the director’s chair, onstage, backstage or front-of-house.
The evening is free to everybody, but there will be a collection for the RNLI, Jeni’s favourite charity, and the Chiltern Edge Community Association (CECA), with which she was heavily involved.
Jeni, who lived in Sonning Common, was a well-loved figure in the local community and highly respected in Oxfordshire generally.
For many years, until her retirement, she worked at Johnson Matthey in Sonning Common. She was a dynamic force in a number of village associations, including the WI, CECA, Peppard Memorial Hall management committee and, of course, the Chiltern Players. She worked tirelessly for Oxfordshire guides and brownies and achieved high office at district level.
