Oh! What a lovely way to remember the Great War

CLIFF Richard’s pianist and a Woodcote actress who has performed at the Hollywood Bowl will ensure top talent in the trenches at Wallingford Corn Exchange, writes Carol Evans.

Musician, composer and all-round musical mastermind Rob Alderton takes a trip down memory lane as musical director of the Sinodun Players’ production of Oh! What a Lovely War.

Alderton, who has worked alongside the likes of Cliff Richard and Andrew Lloyd Webber, puts his love of musical theatre down to his first appearance at the Corn Exchange 30 years ago as a teenager.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be back and feel the same excitement at being in the building again.

“I’ve played at some of the world’s biggest theatres and stadiums but the Corn Exchange will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s the perfect theatre and the auditorium is like a plush West End theatre — just in miniature.”
