TWO family shows will be staged at Henley’s Kenton Theatre next month.

Ratty and friends will embark on adventure in a musical adaptation of Wind in the Willows. The play features all the favourite characters including Toad, Mole and Badger who must save Toad Hall from a pair of cunning weasels.

The show is presented by award-nominated Immersion Theatre and the critically-acclaimed Cambridge Touring Theatre and appears on February 19 for three performances.

A second show with literary links is Duck in the Truck.

Based on the bestselling book by acclaimed children’s author Jez Alborough, this show is aimed at little ones aged between three and seven years old.

Duck sets out on a mucky adventure with puppetry, sing-along songs and plenty of opportunities to join in.

This show will run on February 15.

A NATIONAL tour of the classic Three Men in a Boat opened this week.

Jerome K Jerome’s novel has been adapted for the stage by Craig Gilbert’s ahead of a 10-date tour.

West End actor Michael Rouse will play George along side Tom Hackney as Harris, David Partridge as J and Anna Westlake as Nelly.

Rouse most recently appeared as the Stalker in The Bodyguard at the Adelphi Theatre. Other theatre credits include Jigger Craigin in Carousel, Rudolpho in Matilda and Will Parker in Oklahoma!

In an attempt to escape the stresses of city life, three friends, J, Harris and George, accompanied by their faithful canine companion Montmorency, decide to take to the river in order to relax and rejuvenate. The holiday, however, quickly unravels and descends into chaos.

Originally intended as a guide to boating on the Thames, Jerome’s yarn of youthful friendship, mischief and folly celebrates the very essence of Britishness.

Gilbert’s production comes complete with a working pub, live piano accompaniment, some ale, music hall singing, a dog and a lot of physical comedy.

Three Men in a Boat appears at the Theatre Royal Windsor on February 23 to 28. Box office 01753 853888 or online at www.theatre royalwindsor.co.uk
