History of brilliance

Recently voted the nation's favourite play, Alan Bennett's The History Boys is heading to the Theatre Royal Windsor.

Recently voted the nation's favourite play, Alan Bennett's The History Boys is heading to the Theatre Royal Windsor.

The winner of more than 30 awards is the story of a group of bright, funny and unruly sixth formers in pursuit of sex, sport and a place at university. Their maverick English teacher is at odds with the young and shrewd supply teacher, while their headmaster is obsessed with results and league tables.

Staffroom rivalry and the anarchy of adolescence overflow, provoking insistent questions about history and how you teach it. Their A-levels may be over, but their true education is just beginning.

The History Boys is a very funny, occasionally very rude and exceptionally moving play about the true purpose of education.

Shows are from Monday, March 9 to Saturday, March 14. Tickets cost £13-£29 from 01753 853888 or www. theatre royalwindsor.co.uk
