ENGLAND is on the brink of civil war as the rebels, led by the Earls of Worcester and Northumberland and his son, the valiant Hotspur, plot their uprising.

Meanwhile, the King’s son, Prince Henry (Hal), is living a life of debauchery with Sir John Falstaff and his cronies in Mistress Quickly’s tavern and other bawdy dens in Eastcheap. Can Hal rouse himself to take on Hotspur and save his father’s throne?

The Garden Players are beginning rehearsals for Shakespeare masterpiece Henry IV Part 1. Once again by kind permission of owner Dudley Good, the gardens and lawns of Stubbings House in Maidenhead will provide an outdoor theatre for the performances, from June 17 to 20.

It will be produced by John Timewell, who has gathered a cast of well-known local actors as well as some exciting newcomers for what will be his third new production for the company.

Since 2009, The Garden Players have raised more than £63,000 for various charities and they are supported once again by main sponsors Deloitte, and Stuart and Trish Fletcher.

For tickets, priced at £18, call Judith Timewell on 01628 522854, write to The Garden Players Box Office, 27 Willow Close, Flackwell Heath, Buckinghamshire, HP10 9LH, or see www.thegardenplayersweb.co.uk
