Dementia treatment under the spotlight

THE award-winning play An Evening With Dementia will be staged at the Kenton Theatre in Henley

THE award-winning play An Evening With Dementia will be staged at the Kenton Theatre in Henley in October.

It is a portrait of an ageing actor living in a care home who accepts rather than suffers with the condition.

The production will take the audience on an illuminating, and at times funny, journey which says as much about the mind in old age as it does about how society perceives and behaves towards people with dementia.

The one-man show is written and performed by Trevor T Smith, who was nominated for best male actor in the Offies awards.

Originally written as a theatrical piece after three sell-out runs and five-star reviews at the Edinburgh Festival, it is now being performed as Continuing Personal Development training for doctors, nurses and carers of the elderly throughout the country. It even has been reviewed in the British Medical Journal.

An Evening With Dementia will appear at the Kenton on October 8. Tickets £14 (concessions £12). Call the Box Office on (01491) 575698.
