OXFORD is preparing to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death by staging the full canon of his plays at venues across the city during 2016.

Other highlights of the city’s Shakespeare Oxford 2016 celebrations will include a Shakespeare Jubilee running from April 22 to 30.

The Bard’s precise date of birth is not known, but he was baptised on April 26, 1564, and died aged 52 on April 23, 1616 — making the landmark week-long celebration possible.

Prior to that, Blackwell’s Bookshop will host a Creation Theatre Company production of

King Lear
in its cavernous Norrington Room from Friday, February 12, to Saturday, March 19.

Tickets priced £16.50 are available to book online at www.creationtheatre.co.uk/booking-frame/king-lear
