Triathlon cycle route finalised

THE final cycle route for this year?s Challenge Henley event has been announced.

THE final cycle route for this year?s Challenge Henley event has been announced.

Organisers Just Racing UK say it will ?minimise disruption? to businesses and organisations.

The new route, which incorporates minor changes to the fourth route published in the Standard last month, provides access to National Trust properties Nuffield House and Greys Court, Badgemore Park Golf Club, Huntercombe golf club, Greys Green golf course, Henley leisure centre, Huntercombe prison and Huntercombe Hall care home.

A shuttle service in Nettlebed will provide access to the Sue Ryder hospice and businesses in the village during the event on Sunday, September 8.

Road closures are expected to be in place from 6am to 6pm.

The route begins at Henley Business School, as in previous years, with competitors cycling along Marlow Road before turning right on to Fair Mile.

They will then turn left along the B481, through Highmoor until they turn left onto Greys Road. The cyclists will turn around once they reach Gillotts Lane, looping back until they return to the A4130.

Competitors will then cycle down Nettlebed high street and continue along the A4130, before turning left into Timbers Lane and down through Morgan?s Wood.

Athletes will then cycle back to the A4130 and turn left through Huntercombe End to pass through Park Corner and Howe Hill.

Cyclists will then return to Nettlebed and continue on to Fair Mile before beginning their second of three laps.

For more information and reaction to the route, see this week?s Henley Standard.
