ABOUT 300 people took part in a new triathlon event in Henley over the weekend.
The inaugural Henley Highwayman began on Friday evening with a Thames swim which started at the moorings in Mill Meadows.
On Saturday participants took part in a bike race with a sportive-style start where riders are released seperately and ranked by their times.
The run leg took place on Sunday and started in Market Place. Some roads in the town centre were closed for about 20 minutes as the runners set off at 9am.
Jeremy Laming, who organised the event, said: "We chose the three-day format because it works for Henley.
"We wanted to create something for people to do as little or much as they want. The varied distance means if people are intimidated by the longer distance they can choose a shorter one. We were trying and cater for all shapes and sizes.
"The feedback we have is that everyone really enjoyed the format."
