SUSAN HAMPSHIRE, Kenneth More and Nyree Dawn Porter were three of the stars on location with a BBC film unit in the Henley area on Thursday, Friday and Monday, filming for the new series of The Forsyte Saga. Thursday morning’s filming was based at Marsh Lock, Friday afternoon found the cast at Shiplake Cross and on Monday, Shiplake was once again the centre of activity.

Harry Lovejoy, of Greys Road, Henley, has won the all-England title for a set of 15 runner beans at the National Vegetable Society’s annual championship held in St Albans. Mr Lovejoy, who has already won awards for his runner beans, including local show prizes, was presented with a cheque and an engraved plaque.

A pleasant ceremony took place on Friday when representatives of local businesses and professions were present to witness the opening of New Dominion House by the Mayor of Henley, Alderman A R B Hobbs. Described as the first purpose-built office building in Henley, it had been commissioned by Marshall Paxman & Watson and Bankside Investments, whose offices at Dominion House in Gravel Hill are in front of the new building.
