THERE is still time to stop the controversial residents’ parking scheme and come up with a better one, claimed Henley’s Mayor this week. On Tuesday, town councillors told Oxfordshire County Council group engineer John Read to shelve the plan until they were entirely happy with it. The proposed scheme concentrates on town centre streets and areas around the station.

The planning inquiry into plans for three golf courses at Greys Green Farm in Rotherfield Greys heard protests from three local residents on Friday. Arguments against the development of the planned 400-acre golf academy, with a practice range, one nine-hole and two 18-hole courses and a clubhouse, were put by Alvi Shaw on behalf of Peppard Parish Council.

Burglars who used chains to tear off the front window of Nettlebed post office made off with a safe containing more than £100. They used a stolen vehicle in the theft, which took place at 3am on Wednesday.
