Turning back the pages

RAIDERS have struck at a Henley clothes shop for the fourth time in just seven months. They stole an estimated £15,000 of clothing from Benetton in Duke Street in the early hours of Saturday. The raiders crashed their way through the front window and snatched new-season sweatshirts and sweaters. A police crime prevention officer urged all town centre shops to step up their security.

Foul play by dogs has forced a group of footballers to ban the animals from their playing fields. The Henley YMCA team players they are fed up with kicking the ball amid a trail of dog mess. “They have to go round with buckets and shovels before every game,” said Henley YMCA secretary Maureen Lawson.

Tough parking laws could help end the roadside war between Henley College students and Ancastle Green residents. County council proposals will see the introduction of yellow lines in a bid to drive out the students. Residents have fought a long-running campaign against the parking chaos.
